Leadership in PL and Life

Throughout my time in PL I've used what I've learned in class, outside of class, and generally in life.

In PL classes I've applied lessons in my leadership style seen during our grant-giving process, group debates, and other similar activities. I've also applied what I've learned in other classes. For group projects, major assignments, and other sorts of things I've developed and worked on my leadership which is then used for the previously mentioned situations. I've worked on who I am as a person and as a leader and taken in the lessons and tips from PL to ensure I am the best type of leader I can be.

I've also used my leadership skills outside of class seen through the QUEST Honors Program as well as in my fraternity. In QUEST we work on multiple group consulting projects so I often apply my leadership skills to make sure our team is able to work smoothly and effectively on the project at hand. In my fraternity, I often consider what we've learned in class to see how we can apply that to the leadership in our fraternity's executive board as well as simply improving the leadership as a whole. I've also recently secured the Director of Philanthropy position for my fraternity's executive board. When writing my speech and planning out what I want to do with this position, I included the lessons I've taken away from PL to ensure I can lead in the way I hope a leader should.

On a day-to-day basis, I've seen leadership lessons from PL show in how I go about life. The way I am with friends, the way I handle problems and conflict, and even the way I look at things in life have all been altered by what I've learned through PL. Leadership qualities are not only seen and demonstrated in the typical project environment but also in life. Certain mentalities, ideologies, and perceptions always exist within a person and I've seen this in myself with how I go about life. When I am with friends I often notice aspects of EQ come out. When handling conflicts I try to listen to the other side, take a holistic approach, and remain calm as taught in class. All such scenarios have been strongly influenced by what we were taught in PL and I've grown as a person because of that.
